Isle of Man Meats back ‘think local, buy local’ message at Food & Drink Festival - IOM Meats

Isle of Man Meats will again have a stand on both days of the Isle of Man Food & Drink Festival.

They will be based in the Manx Produce Marquee, and WE Teare butchers from Ramsey will also be on the stand with a wide range of Isle of Man Meats products to buy. Visitors can taste two delicious Manx meat dishes (best Manx beef stir fry, and tasty lamb burgers with apricot and fennel) based on recipes provided by The Cook Shack, and cooked by Isle of Man Meats’ chef Maciej Mierzejewski. Picnic tables will be around the stand, and visitors are welcome to use the space to stop for a break, have a chat with the Isle of Man Meats team, and (most importantly!) tuck into the delicious Manx meat dishes. For anyone who wants to make the stir fry and burgers at home there will be recipe leaflets available to take away (you can also find the recipes on www.iommeats.com)

At 3pm on Saturday September 19th Isle of Man Meats will be in the cookery theatre explaining how quality Manx meat gets from pasture to plate, with the help of experienced butcher Mark Mathews (from WE Teare), Ean Parsons (cattle and sheep farmer from Baljean Farm, Laxey, who is one of Isle of Man Meats’ 220 Manx producers), and chef Maciej.

Kirree Kermode, Procurement Officer at Man Meats, said: “It’s great to see that the festival is going ahead. It’s a very important date on our calendar, and even more so this year because so many other events in the food and agriculture sector have been cancelled due to the coronavirus crisis. We’ve seen a huge amount of support for purchasing local produce this year and we’re looking forward to supporting the ‘buy local’ and #MakeSureItsManx messages.”

The Isle of Man Food & Drink Festival takes place at Villa Marina Gardens on September 19th and 20th.
