Isle of Man Meats has appointed Jan Riley as Technical Assistant.
Jan has over 30 years’ experience working in several sectors of the food industry; mainly in the shellfish industry.
As Technical Assistant, her responsibilities — in addition to technical tasks — include supporting Isle of Man Meats’ Compliance Manager Colin Pilkington to ensure that the business adheres to industry standards and continues to secure industry recognised accreditations. Isle of Man Meats has BRC Global Food Standards’ Grade A accreditation, and is a Red Tractor approved meat processor. The business is also a UNESCO Biosphere Isle of Man Partner, and approved to use ‘Product of Isle of Man’ provenance labels which are part of DEFA’s Food Matters strategy.
Jan has a number of qualifications that are recognised within the food sector both on and off-island, including HACCP for food manufacturing, an Internal Auditing Certificate, SALSA HACCP Certificate, and a Supervising Food Safety in Manufacturing qualification. An important part of her role will be to ensure that Isle of Man Meat’s high standards of hygiene and food safety are maintained.
