Isle of Man Meats appoints Kirree Kermode as Procurement Officer - IOM Meats

Isle of Man Meats has appointed Kirree Kermode as Procurement Officer.

Kirree is well known in the Island’s farming community due to her lifelong involvement in the industry, and her role as
co-presenter of Manx Radio’s popular ‘Countryside’ programme.

Kirree grew up on Orrisdale Farm near Ballasalla. Her family’s history with the farm spans five generations and today
it is home to Orrisdale Pedigrees which is renowned for producing pedigree cattle and sheep. Kirree therefore has a
wealth of practical experience and knowledge of the industry. She is a former Chair of the young breeder’s branch of
the British Limousin Cattle Society, and has recently become a Youth Development Programme committee member
in the north of England branch of the British Texel Sheep Society. As a competitor for the youth development
sections of both of those organisations she represented England in national finals in stock judging and reason giving,
taking the overall title on two occasions. Following these successes she was invited to judge at a number of summer
shows and sales in the UK and Ireland.

Commenting on her appointment as Procurement Officer, she said: “I am delighted to become part of the
procurement team and am looking forward to helping to develop Isle of Man Meats’ strong relationships with farmers.
The Island’s agricultural industry produces some of the finest quality beef, lamb and pork available, and has an
excellent record and reputation for raising livestock to the highest standards. This is a credit to the generations
of hard-working countrymen and women on the Island, and it’s great to be working with the Isle of Man Meats team
who are dedicated to helping to continue this proud tradition of producing high quality meat.”

Phil Parsons, Plant Director at Isle of Man Meats, said: “Kirree is one of the most experienced and well-qualified
young farmers on the Island and has a tremendous passion and enthusiasm for the industry. She also has an in-
depth understanding of the challenges and opportunities faced by livestock farmers, butchers and other meat
retailers. She is an excellent addition to the Isle of Man Meats team.”
