Royal Mint: Manx lamb on menu at UK Ambassador’s party to celebrate Queen’s birthday - IOM Meats

Manx lamb was on the menu at a party hosted by the UK’s Ambassador to Switzerland to celebrate the Queen’s birthday. Lamb provided by Isle of Man Meats was served to VIP guests at the event on June 6th.

Tim Baker, Chairman of Isle of Man Meat Company Ltd, said: “It was a great honour to have Manx lamb on the menu at such a prestigious occasion. In addition to being a celebration of Her Majesty’s birthday, the event was also an opportunity to showcase the best of British and Isle of Man producers such as Tyrrells, Tiptree, Fuller’s, and other major British businesses. Our Manx lamb received many positive comments, and the Ambassador even mentioned it in her speech.”

The event was held in Berne and hosted by Ms Jane Owen, Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Swiss Confederation, and non-resident Ambassador to Liechtenstein. The Ambassador thanked everyone who makes the ‘relationship between the UK and Switzerland a powerful force for open trade, science, innovation, culture, tourism and education’.

Isle of Man Meats was the only Manx business to feature in the event which was supported by around 30 leading companies. Earlier this year the Isle of Man Meat Company Ltd, and other businesses from the Island’s food and drink sector, were represented in a delegation to Switzerland led by the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture (DEFA).
