Isle of Man Meats announces strategic partnership - IOM Meats

We're proud to announce our first strategic partnership.

The deal is with Suffolk-based Northgate Foods which is one of the UK’s biggest suppliers of fresh and frozen meat with an annual turnover of around £18million — which means that it will significantly increase the market for meat produced by Manx farmers. Founded in 1991, Northgate today is one of only a few UK companies accredited with the BRC Global Standards as agents and brokers with Red Tractor approval. Its product ranges - including lamb, beef, and pork - are supplied to the catering and food manufacturing sectors.

Tim Baker MHK, Chair of Isle of Man Meats, said: “This is Isle of Man Meats’ first major strategic partnership of its type, and as such it represents a huge step forward for the business and the Island’s livestock farmers. Securing a contract with a UK strategic partner was an important goal in our plan for business growth, and in partnering with Northgate we have created an opportunity to significantly increase volumes of sales and improve our margins. Working with an organisation with Northgate’s reputation, credibility and capability will help us to build the Isle of Man Meats brand in the UK and provide new routes to market for us and Manx farmers. This is great news for Isle of Man Meats and our producers, and it is proof that we are leading the Island’s meat industry into a successful new era.”

Philip Woodfield, Sales and Purchasing Manager, Northgate Foods, said: “Isle of Man Meats’ reputation as a supplier of high quality, fully traceable products, from farms which operate to recognised industry standards, are all important factors behind our decision to award this contract. These factors are USPs that we, our customers, and end consumers, are looking always for.”

The contract was officially signed by Tim Baker MHK and Philip Woodfield at the recent IFE (International Food and Drink Event) in London where Isle of Man Meats had a stand.
